Not every bar needs to be a quiet, contemplative cocktail experience. Sometimes you want a bar where things are happening — pool tables, live music, energy, something to do with your hands besides swirl a glass. West Hollywood has plenty of bars that deliver “fun” as a primary feature, not an afterthought.
Bar Jubilee — Pool Table, Live Jazz, and Carnival Vibes
Bar Jubilee on the Sunset Strip is built for fun in a way most cocktail bars aren’t. The upstairs pool lounge has a proper pool table where you can actually play — not a decorative piece in the corner that nobody touches. The main bar is wrapped in hand-painted carnival murals that give the whole space a playful, larger-than-life energy.
Then there’s the programming: Jazz Wednesdays bring live musicians, 2000s Top 40 nights bring the throwback energy, and the Rock ’n’ Roll Circus theme means the atmosphere never feels generic. Add in a cocktail menu where every drink has a circus-themed name and a story behind it, and you’ve got a bar that gives you something to talk about all night.
Happy hour is 7–8 PM every night with the full menu at $12.
Barney’s Beanery — The Classic Sports Bar
Barney’s has been a West Hollywood institution since 1920. Pool tables, shuffleboard, TVs everywhere, and a menu that goes way beyond bar snacks. It’s not trying to be cool — it’s trying to be fun, and it succeeds. Best for groups who want to spread out and stay a while.
The Pikey — Games and Garden
The Pikey on Sunset offers a relaxed pub atmosphere with a large outdoor area. Board games, a friendly crowd, and drinks that lean more British pub than LA cocktail bar. Good for a casual night where the priority is hanging out, not dressing up.
Good Times at Davey Wayne’s — Backyard Party Vibes
The ’70s house party concept in Hollywood (close enough to count) is pure fun. Enter through a refrigerator door, grab a drink, and enjoy the backyard setup with lawn chairs, a disco ball, and a crowd that’s there to have a good time. Best on warm nights when the outdoor area is in full swing.

The Abbey — Energy and Entertainment
The Abbey on Robertson is West Hollywood’s most famous nightlife venue for a reason. DJs, dancing, themed nights, and a patio that’s always packed. It’s more nightclub than bar as the evening progresses, but early in the night it’s a social, high-energy spot.
What “Fun” Means at a Bar
The word “fun” means different things to different people. If fun is pool and craft cocktails, Bar Jubilee. If fun is sports and pub food, Barney’s. If fun is dancing, The Abbey. The point is that West Hollywood has more range than people give it credit for — it’s not all velvet ropes and $25 cocktails.
Start at Bar Jubilee for the cocktail-forward version of fun, then explore from there. The Sunset Strip has enough variety to fill an entire night.
